Usually when I share about charity events I get to photograph, it’s after the fact. I’m delighted to bring you news of an upcoming event that I helped shoot the promotional photos for last week.

The Kendrick Fincher Hydration Foundation’s gala this year will the A Cool Summer Homecoming and I got to shoot the homecoming court photos. The event will be August 23 at the Fayetteville Towne Center and will include amazing food, drinks and dancing. You can click on the link for the foundation to order tickets, volunteer or to become a sponsor. There will also be a silent auction at the event and retired NBA star Scottie Pippen was just announced as the special guest.

What’s KFHF and why have this event?

Did you know that August is Heat Awareness Month? The Kendrick Fincher Hydration Foundation’s entire mission is promoting proper hydration and preventing heat-related illnesses through education and supporting activities.

The foundation is named for Kendrick Fincher who died in 1995 from complications from heat stroke he suffered during junior high football practice in Rogers. His mom, Rhonda Fincher, founded the organization and continues operating it today.

A homecoming fundraiser

The upcoming A Cool Summer Homecoming is a unique homecoming event in that the king and queen are decided based on their fundraising efforts. The female candidate who raises the most money for KFHF and the male candidate who does the same will be crowned the gala royalty. The candidates are enlisting the help of family and friends to reach their goal, all to help KFHF.

I’ve decided to lend my personal support to Kirena Sheppard but also wanted to introduce you to the other candidates so you can choose who you want to support in their fundraising efforts.

Each homecoming candidate is from a different company in Northwest Arkansas. Their full bios will soon be available on the KFHF website.
