Are you a Northwest Arkansas high school senior graduating this May? Have you had your senior pictures taken yet? It’s not too late!
Spring is upon us and that means high school seniors are getting ready for graduation. My son just graduated from high school last year, so I remember well all the flurry of activity during those last months.
To help your senior picture photoshoot go a bit smoother, I thought I’d offer some tips for success. By the way, these tips will help you whether you’re doing your photoshoot last minute or if you’re currently a junior planning ahead a bit.
Decide what you want to get from your senior pictures
Decide how many photos you want to come out of your session and that will help you choose whether to have multiple outfits and locations, etc. Let your photographer know ahead of time where you want to shoot and your outfit selection!
Pick a photographer you trust
Take a look at different photographers and their profiles before you decide on one. This will allow you to see what style of photography each one has, and which one goes with your vision of how you want your photos to turn out.
Ask about the photo turnaround
Once at your session, don’t forget to ask your photographer how long the photo turnaround is and when you can expect your pictures to be done.
Make an appointment for a special location
Northwest Arkansas has amazing spots for photoshoots of all kinds. If you have a certain location in mind, call and see if you need to make an appointment. Consider a place that you have memories at or a scenic spot in NWA where you like the atmosphere.
Bring a friend
If you are more comfortable having another person at your session, ask your photographer if you can bring a friend or family member. They will help you relax and will help spot if you have a wisp of hair out of place or your outfit needs to be adjusted.
Wear transitional outfits
If you are planning on having multiple outfits, consider wearing a tank top or something that is easy to change with overshirts or jackets. I love it when clients bring different looks because it helps me capture different sides of their personality. But I also want to make those clothing transitions uncomplicated!
Show your personality
You want your photos to capture your personality. Keep this in mind when you are choosing your locations and outfits and be sure the photographer knows what your vision is. If you don’t have vision, that’s okay! Let your photographer get creative.
